A bush adventure!  Safari Camp Game Reserve (from 4 days / 3 nights)

Surrounded by raw wilderness, you wake up to the sounds of animals in the morning, go on ranger patrol and track animals together with your private ranger. Nature will spoil you at night with camp fire romance as only Africa can.

The private game reserve is the natural habitat of numerous southern African animal species and vegetation. Many African antelope species, such as impala, gnu, eland, hartebeest, oryx or kudu, but also giraffes, zebras, snakes and other reptiles alongside the mammals call it their home. Predators like brown hyena, leopard, cheetah, jackal, and spotted genet stroll through the bushveld whilst vultures, eagles and more than 150 other bird species master the sky.

You will stay at a tented camp, which is hidden deep in the wildlife reserve. Your guide will be in the background and at your beck and call.  He takes care for your wellbeing, delights you with fresh cooking and braai, introduces the wildlife and nature to you, and is your guardian during the night. Further, he will introduce the life of a ranger, the basics of professional wildlife management and importance of conservation work to you.

Experience the wilderness

What’s special: An experienced Kambaku guide stays with you all the time and due to the group being small, all activities can be planned together. Guests are welcome to participate in the animal conservation projects hands-on.

Guided bush hikes

As a guest at the safari camp, you will take many strolls through the rich in wildlife and naturally unspoiled savannah, which  will be a memorable adventure. When you are hiking through the bush, your experienced guide will detour off the beaten tracks to a road less travelled, deep into the realm of African fauna and flora. He will share his knowledge of animal tracks with you, pointing out the secrets in all the clues left by the wild. He will also teach you about other things such as the vegetation, the bush savannah’s true survival champion, ecological issues or about some of the fascinating insects.

Wildlife Jeep tours

A game drive in an open Jeep is a must-do during any safari. Gaze into the boundlessness of the savannah and discover the wildlife reserve’s bigger herds. Enjoying a sundowner and toasting to the magnificent sunset, which colours the savannah into a deep red after some adventurous game drives, is the perfect way to end your safari adventure. Another night drive follows afterwards to track nocturnal animals. Exploring Namibia’s savannah in the moonlight is a spellbinding experience.

Ranger patrol – preserve wildlife actively

Kambaku’s healthy diversity is a result of the long-term investment in professional wildlife and ecosystem management to preserve our delicate natural heritage. Multiple wardens patrol the game reserve daily. The daily tasks of the game wardens include regular game counts, species lists, monitoring the breeding and resting sites, putting out mineral licks, checking water provision and fences as well as finding and destroying poacher’s traps. At a ranger’s patrol you will learn what it means to patrol a double fence of 36 km in length and get to peak behind the scenes of the work at the wildlife reserve.

Accommodation

This camp is privacy at its best: only four guests can be accommodated in the two tents. Every tent is furnished with 2 single beds, a neat bathroom with shower and a patio with a breathtaking view of the game reserve. Allow the Namibian bush savannah to welcome you with some custom-made time-out.

You can also look forward to camp-provided culinary delights as well as daily deliveries of lodge-provided  home-made breads and delicacies. Sleeping under the stars, in the heart of Africa, will make this trip your once in a lifetime bush adventure.

Discover Namibia’s culture and wildlife

Meet the  Ju/‘Hoansi-San  and go on a  Big 5 safari at Etosha Nationalpark

(3 days / 2 nights)

During this 3- day private tour, you will discover the native peoples from the Kalahari and their cultural heritage as well as go on a Big 5 safari in one of Namibia’s most famous national parks. Soak in all the fantastic impressions, let your experienced ranger guide you and enjoy not having to sit in the driver’s seat for once.

DAY 1 In a settlement on the edge of the Khaudum National Park live the Ju/‘Hoansi-San(the “real people”). You are encouraged to watch and participate in making fires, ropes, arched shelters, preparing and eating bush food – everything is shown and explained. Thus you spend the day in the shade of a tree, listening to songs and stories as you try to make a rope from a piece of bamboo.

In the afternoon you take off to the West on a quest for some German history of the old Namibia. You see the Hoba Meteorite that is supposed to be the biggest meteorite in the world with more than ca. 60 tons of weight.

DAY  2 Early in the morning you take off to Etosha, Namibia’s most significant national park. Your game drive takes you across the vast grass savannah. With some luck you can watch elephants bathing in the water holes and encounter lions and rhinos. After your picnic lunch in the park, you continue the search for lions and rhinos. With the sun glowing red in the west, you make your way to your lodge.

DAY 3 A new day awaits you with game spotting and German-Namibian history. Namutoni’s defence tower, the old German fort at Etosha, offers great views over the bush savannah. There is a spring by the tower that holds water year-round and is a great attraction for the animals in dry months. Then you stalk the animals by vehicle, getting to know one of the largest national parks in the world. You picnic in the park and afterwards the search continues for elephant, lion, and rhino. Dinner is served back at  Kambaku.

Rates include accommodation at a private lodge (4 stars) with full board, all described activities, vehicles, guides and all entry fees.

Gain insight into the work of a recognized cheetah conservation organisation

(1 day trip)

The Cheetha Conservation Fund (CCF) is one of the world’s leading organisation regarding the protection of the cheetah and ultimately ensuring its future on our planet. CCF cooperates with locals, farmers, Namibia’s youth as well as international research institutes in order to reach this important goal. In addition, CCF is committed to educational work, rehabilitation programmes and most importantly to act as mediator in the human-wildlife conflict.

We leave in the morning to the Cheetah Conservation Fund to view the endangered cats from closer range. An interactive Museum supplies information on these shy cats and the small clinic offers insight into the research done on the lives and behaviour of cheetahs. Watch the fastest animal in the world live in action!

Back at the camp, your guide will pamper you with some traditional Namibian dishes. Enjoying your dinner while gazing into the star covered African night sky, invites you to revive your favourite memories of the day.
